New hyperangulated HyMac 3 blade for the HEINE visionPRO video laryngoscope

Gilching, July 2023

The HEINE visionPRO video laryngoscope is suitable for routine use during any intubation procedure. Every now and again, when intubating with a video laryngoscope, users can encounter airway situations that require them to look a little more ‘around the corner’ and where it may be beneficial to use a slightly more curved blade. The new HEINE HyMac single-use blade with a more pronounced curvature is now available specifically for these special situations.

HEINE is thus expanding its range of blades for the visionPRO video laryngoscope, which previously only included blades in the classic Macintosh shape.

An intuitive intubation routine without any need for extra training

Due to the special, hyperangulated design, which is curved in the distal area, the HyMac 3 tilts sharply behind the base of the tongue, thus reaching the epiglottis perfectly ‘almost by itself’. The endotracheal tube only needs to be guided around a slight bend.

A standard stylet is all that is needed to navigate the tube safely to its destination. Due to the sophisticated geometry of the blade, there is no need to learn a new intubation technique just to use the blade. Using special, expensive accessories that could complicate the intubation process is not essential.

No blade slippage thanks to the HEINE FixLock System

The visionPRO video laryngoscope is a modular, reusable system that is used with a variety of single-use blades. The video laryngoscope was fitted with a FixLock System for this purpose. When the single-use blade is attached, you can clearly hear and feel the blade’s fixing clip automatically engaging on the fixing hook on the device.

The FixLock System is located on the side facing away from the endotracheal tube, so it does not interfere with intubation.

After use, the fixing clip can be easily lifted and the blade securely released. Scraping the blade is an effortless process where there is no contact with the potentially contaminated area of the blade.

Hygienic application and eco-friendly processing

Each blade is packed hygienically in its own individual packaging and has clearly visible labelling in the HyMac variant. The sophisticated blade design protects the camera arm from contamination, enabling fast and effective reprocessing of the HEINE visionPRO video laryngoscope straight after intubation and scraping of the single-use blade. There is no urgent need for reprocessing in the Sterile Instruments Processing Department.

Just like the Mac blades for the visionPRO video laryngoscope, HEINE also manufactures the HyMac single-use blades from eco-friendly upcycled material, thus helping to protect the environment by saving on CO2 emissions. The blades are also sustainably manufactured on an energy-saving machine powered by green electricity using an injection moulding process that is extremely resource-efficient.
